I became a hairstylist as a joke. Yeah, you read that right. Growing up my family and I moved all across the country for my dad's job. He always told me and my three siblings, "I don't care what you decide to be when you grow up, but you are going to go to school and get a piece of paper that says you know something." When I graduated high school in 2014 I kept joking with my parents that I wanted to forego college to go to cosmetology school instead. By the time I was supposed to choose a college to go to, my joke had become a more earnest question. I left for cosmetology school right after graduating, and now with almost 10 years in the business I know that there is no other career I could ever see myself doing for the rest of my life. Now the joke is that I will be doing hair until I'm 90.
Being a hairstylist has allowed me to fill my weird passions every day. My older sister is on the autism spectrum and has always been different, growing up with her has given me a fascination with the way different people live their lives. I'm that person who isn't kidding when I say that I want to hear your life story and really get to know you. This has led to me being somewhat of an expert communicator, well that and being married to a therapist helps too. I will ask you a million questions about your hair and your life. I have always said that consultations and color are my true specialties.
The two things that get me out of bed every morning are my rescue pups and my drive for perfection. Being a perfectionist does tend to bleed into my work life. I will be the first person to acknowledge if something doesn't turn out exactly like I thought it would, and I will be studying for hours after to make sure that it never happens again. I've been to so many color classes at this point, the educators are starting to recognize me like I'm at my favorite restaurant.
I genuinely enjoy getting to meet new people, and I love rising to a challenge. I cannot wait to make you hair goals become a reality, so what are you waiting for? Why not schedule an appointment and let the rest of your hair journey begin? I can't wait to meet you.
